New Precision-Grade Optical Breadboards with Modal Damping from Newport

Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in laser and photonic solutions that Make, Manage, and Measure Light®, introduces precision-grade (PG) optical breadboards with patented modal damping to improve dynamic performance.

Precision-Grade Optical Breadboards

Ideal for the most critical laboratory and ultrafast applications, the new PG breadboards include sealed mounting holes which make it simple and easy to contain and clean up spills or retrieve small objects.

The PG Series breadboards incorporate a 3/16-inch steel triple-core interface honeycomb design providing for a lighter, stiffer platform with better dynamic rigidity. Newport’s patented constrained layer modal damping minimizes torsional and bending modes. Combined with unsurpassed stiffness, excellent stability and dynamic rigidity, the new PG Series breadboards support the most demanding research tasks.

Newport’s precision-grade breadboards are available from 1 ft. x 1 ft. up to 3 ft. x 6 ft. sizes. The series is available in 2-in. and 4-in. thicknesses, both offering an outstanding surface flatness of <±0.004 in. over 2 square feet. Metric or imperial versions can also be specified. The imperial standard models feature ¼-20 tapped holes on a 1-in. grid and metric models feature M6 tapped holes on a 25 mm grid. Newport’s PG series is also available in custom sizes and shapes.
