NTELOS Chooses ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 MSAP for GPON Deployments

Wireless and wireline communications service provider, NTELOS, has chosen ADTRAN’s Total Access 300 Series ONTs and the Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform for Broadband DLC and GPON deployments in 9,000 houses. The Broadband Stimulus program is funding the GPON deployments.

Total Access 5000 MSAP

The Total Access 5000 MSAP will allow NTELOS to offer Broadband DLC and Fiber-to-the-Home services in Virginia and Pennsylvania. The company chose the MSAP as it will enable service providers to offer a wide range of services, all from a single platform. The platform also has a good technical support. These advantages, when integrated with minimal capital investment, result in faster return on investment and reduced ownership cost.

The Total Access 5000 allows service providers to offer any kind of carrier-class service from a general product. An all-Ethernet core in the platform offers scalability to satisfy the demand for any access service. The MSAP is suitable for copper and fiber access technologies and streamlines the transition from legacy to advanced services easily.

NTELOS’s VP of wireline engineering and planning, Glenn Butler stated that the Total Access 5000 MSAP will enable the company to broaden the fiber optic network and offer high-speed broadband and IPTV services.
