DigitalPersona to Unveil POS Software Featuring Fingerprint Biometrics Technology

DigitalPersona, Inc., a leader in fingerprint identity and authentication solutions, continues to expand its leadership in fingerprint biometrics solutions for restaurants and franchise owners.  The latest version of the popular Digital Dining™ restaurant Point-of-Sale (POS) software, featuring U.are.U® fingerprint biometrics technology from DigitalPersona, will be unveiled at the Digital Dining National Dealer Conference in Austin, TX.

DigitalPersona U.are.U fingerprint biometrics have become a standard part of Digital Dining's POS solutions.  In fact, 80 percent of Digital Dining's restaurant and franchise customers use U.are.U fingerprint readers with Digital Dining POS software to cut costs by fighting labor fraud and till shrink.

RCNY Restaurants LLC, a New York City-based Arby's franchisee, is one of the most recent quick service restaurant owners to select the combined Digital Dining/DigitalPersona solution.  RCNY discovered the addition of DigitalPersona fingerprint biometrics to their POS software provided immediate cost savings by preventing employees from clocking each other in and out and by eliminating unauthorized manager overrides at the register.  The franchisee also realized that the Digital Dining/DigitalPersona solution helped to increase productivity by moving customers through order processes faster.

"With fingerprint biometrics, we have found a reliable way of preventing employees from clocking each other in and out that just wasn't possible before," said Raymond Chera, Franchisee, RCNY. "We are now able to hold our employees accountable for their time and the transactions they handle. The biometrically-enabled POS terminals are a key part of our strategy to reduce employee fraud and increase productivity at the till."

The Digital Dining solution serves customers in industries ranging from restaurants and hospitality to universities and hospitals.  Digital Dining is also used by organizations in the entertainment industry such as night clubs, bars, movies theaters, bowling centers, casinos and racetracks.  The software supports all leading POS hardware platforms, including Posiflex, NCR, IBM, Elo, Panasonic and Touch Dynamics and runs on virtually any hardware compatible with current Microsoft Windows or mobile operating systems.

"Over the last 10 years we have seen biometrics become a huge area of interest to our customers," said Andre Nataf, business development manager for Digital Dining.  "The DigitalPersona U.are.U fingerprint readers are phenomenal.  They integrate seamlessly with all of our partner's machines.  Eighty percent of our implementations include U.are.U biometrics from DigitalPersona.  It has become standard equipment."

Digital Dining selected U.are.U fingerprint readers from DigitalPersona for their ease of use and seamless integration.  With the U.are.U 4500 readers, the Digital Dining software is able to provide system logon, time and attendance and transaction authorization at the touch of a finger.

"Biometrics are becoming a necessity for organizations using POS solutions," said Jim Fulton, vice president of marketing for DigitalPersona, Inc.  "U.are.U biometrics from DigitalPersona has become a standard for Digital Dining because we've proven that with a simple investment restaurateurs can become more efficient, reduce costs and see an immediate return on investment."
