VECTOR Uses OpVista2000 in Networking Projects Throughout Eastern Europe

OpVista, Inc. today announced that it has signed a comprehensive sales and support agreement with VECTOR to use the complete OpVista2000 Optical Transport System product line in optical networking projects throughout Eastern Europe, effective immediately.

VECTOR, based in Gdynia, Poland, provides network infrastructure and integrated solutions for multimedia services such as digital TV, Internet and telephony, for Eastern European operators.

VECTOR selected the OpVista2000 product line because of its ability to expand an existing network's service capacity without costly re-engineering and to deliver cost effective incremental bandwidth expansion. The OpVista2000 allows VECTOR to expand its product family from access to metro/regional backbone networks.

The OpVista2000 incorporates OpVista's patented and widely-deployed microwave photonics technology, using densely-packed multiple optical carriers to deliver the highest available service bandwidth capacity on today's networks. The OpVista2000 can expand the number of available wavelengths within a service provider's existing infrastructure or create new networks in the most cost-effective manner possible.

OpVista's approach represents a departure from conventional DWDM systems that require "forklift" upgrades or lack the capacity and scalability to support bandwidth intensive "next-generation" services. With microwave photonics technology, OpVista2000 can deliver deployment cost savings of up to 50% compared to conventional DWDM equipment.

"We are very eager to win new projects with OpVista," said Maciej Muzalewski, Business Development Director, Broadband Cable Networks, VECTOR. "The OpVista2000 Optical Transport System is an ideal complement to our current access network product line and it allows us to build solutions for our customers that provide digital TV, Internet and VoIP services across the entire network from access to backbone."

"OpVista looks forward to reaching new markets and creating success for operators with VECTOR," said Karl F. May, OpVista President and CEO. "The telecommunications sector in Eastern Europe is growing very quickly and VECTOR is strategically placed to help OpVista enter and win in this critical market."

OpVista and VECTOR executives are attending Cable Congress 08 in Madrid, Spain and are available for media interviews.
