Newport Expands Solar Wafer Testing Capabilities

Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in laser and photonic solutions that Make, Manage and Measure Light®, is pleased to announce expanded capabilities that include solar wafer testing and calibration for bare cells up to 156 mm x 156 mm.

Newport’s Technology & Applications Center’s Photovoltaic (TAC-PV) Lab at Newport is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to ISO/IEC 17025. This allows Newport to certify the dimensional and electrical performance parameters of photovoltaic cells, including solar reference cells, small area research cells, irradiance sensors, and the new addition of solar wafers. Calibrations are traceable to the World Radiometric Reference (WRR) and NIST. Newport offers the industry’s fastest turn-around times and can also accommodate high throughput to meet customer needs.

The company’s new photovoltaic test services feature a calibration certificate that indicates the measured total area of your device, its spectral response and I-V curve, and the electrical performance parameters with stated uncertainties. Measurements are made according to the American Society for Testing Materials or ASTM standard E948-09.
