The FTB-5240S optical spectrum analyzer acts as an efficient ROADM and 40 G network-commissioning device when integrated with in-band OSNR measurement capabilities. The OSNR test method provides precise measurements for advanced systems, which face noise variations for every channel. The analyzer has hybrid detection capabilities that provide automated and precise OSNR measurements from sophisticated networks.

EXFO’s Vice President, Etienne Gagnon, stated that service providers are looking out for options to cut down operating expenditures and select test solutions, which allow their technicians to increase the test cycles and thereby reduce the time spent in the field. Gagnon added that the company’s optical spectrum analyzer can enable the technicians to run their tests faster.
