Amerlux Felicitated with Two NGL Awards for LED Indoor Luminaires

Amerlux, an industry leader of task-specific, energy-efficient lighting solutions for the retail, hospitality, architectural and commercial markets, has announced that its Fino and Hornet HP families received two Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Awards for "Special Recognition" this year. This announcement was made at LEDucation recently.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), The NGL Solid State Lighting Design Competition was launched in 2008 to promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for general illumination in commercial lighting applications. The NGL competition was created to recognize and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED commercial lighting luminaires and increase market acceptance and awareness of LEDs for general lighting.

"We are extremely proud that Fino and Hornet HP were recognized for their design and technology excellence in this year's NGL Award Competition," said Chuck Campagna, CEO and President of Amerlux. "This showcase helps lighting designers and architects secure the best LED lighting products worthy of specification."

Fino is the world's first ultra shallow asymmetric luminaire that can be wall mounted for indirect lighting by way of ceilings or floors. Delivering the comfort of indirect lighting with the light levels to operate without the need of recessed downlighting and capable of running the complete length of walls, without interfering with studs, Fino provides outstanding architectural illumination using LED technology. Perfect for indirect ambient, wall wash and cove lighting applications in private offices and hotel corridors, this luminaire is designed with an ultra-thin depth of just 5/8 inches and installs easily in sheet rock. Using just five watts per foot, the fixture's extruded construction and optics provide the exact fit and finish for hairline joints, as well as an extruded two-piece, trimless mud frame with gear for a clean, architectural look. An engineered, snap-in lens delivers maximum efficiency and powerful light transmission with an integral reflector in a high reflectance white finish. Available in 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K correlated color temperatures (CCT), the family offers standard 0-10v dimming, 50,000-hour life and a 10-year limited warranty.

Hornet High Power (HP) LED Track Head and Semi-Recessed and Recessed fixtures offer outstanding performance, reliability and guaranteed energy efficiency with maintenance savings. A replacement for the 20-watt ceramic metal halide fixture (23.5-watt total system watt), the compact Hornet HP 21-watt LED Track Head delivers the power of a CMH fixture with up to 1131 lumens and more than 8750 center beam candle power (CBCP) while surpassing it with enhanced control, instant-on, dimmability and long lifespan. The Hornet HP's quality, energy efficient light source, which also powers the 18-watt Semi-Recessed and Recessed Luminaires, provides better maintained and more secure lumens, consistent color rendering, and deliver up to 1,000 lumens. Precision engineered for optimal thermal and optical performance, the Hornet HP harnesses and focuses LED lighting, delivering clean, crisp beams of light, with consistent benchmark color and punch. Life at 70% of initial lumen output is rated at 50,000 hours, which is more than 10-15 times longer than halogen and more than three times the life of 20-watt ceramic metal halide fixture, providing lower operating and maintenance costs with greater energy savings and better lumen maintenance over its life.
