SPIE Photonics West to Feature Element Six’s Paper on Single-Crystal Diamond for Optical Components

Element Six, the world leader in synthetic diamond supermaterials and member of the De Beers Group of Companies, today announced that Principal Research Scientist Dr. Andrew Bennett will present a paper on the topic of single-crystal diamond for optical components at the 2014 SPIE Photonics West conference and exhibition.

Held at The Moscone Center in San Francisco, February 1-6, the event is the largest and most influential of its kind in North American, and will bring together laser and photonics industry leaders to discuss research, development and industry trends in biomedical optics, biophotonics, industrial lasers, optoelectronics, microfabrication, optical MEMS and more.

  • Session Title/Code: Disk Lasers—Session 7
  • Date and Time: Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, from 10:30am–12:30pm
  • Paper Title: Development of high-purity single-crystal diamond for optical components in thin-disk systems
  • Location: Room 132 (exhibit level)

As principal research scientist at Element Six, Bennett will lend nearly a decade of expertise in the synthesis of diamond products across a range of applications, including both polycrystalline and single crystal products to his paper presentation. With responsibility for managing Element Six's optical research programme, working closely with customers and academic institutes to ensure continued innovation in optical material design, Bennett will also share his insight on research and innovation in synthesis and processing of diamond that enables its properties to be fully exploited for new applications to continue to meet demand for increasing power densities.
