MKS’ Units to be Used for Developing Photovoltaic Solar Cells

MKS Instruments announced that it has received a contract from a key Chinese solar cell developer to offer its RF power supplies and matching networks.

MKS will also provide numerous vacuum related products to the Chinese firm. The devices will be utilized for manufacturing photovoltaic solar cells. They will be deployed in two fabs presently under development in China. Shipment of the devices is expected to begin in December 2010 and continue till early 2011.

The CEO and VP of MKS, Jerry Colella stated that the recently designed sophisticated power supply technology along with the improved power conversion efficacy played a vital role in selection of the company’s devices. Colella added that the company’s presence in China, along with the applications engineering team, was necessary for qualification by the Chinese customer.
