Optical windows are designed to isolate sensitive analytical instruments from environments that might damage them. They are often used as a part of an enclosure. They can be made from various materials and coated to ensure they are able to transmit the required wavelength range for a given application.

Equipment
Knight Optical's UV fused silica windows ensure good transmission down to 170nm in the UV region. Knight Optical’s UV Fused Silica is used for enclosure sealing, where UV wavelengths in harsh environments need to be analysed.
Knight Optical offer Sapphire windows for use in imaging and advanced cameras used in demanding or harsh environments and high pressure chambers. Sapphire's superior strength and hardness make it resistant to scratching from severe sand, grit and salty environments, where softer BK7 windows quickly become unusable.
White float windows and B270 windows are cost effective medium performance windows.
Knight Optical's Borosilicate windows offer low expansion and resistance to thermal shock. Borosilicate windows ensure that flatness is maintained in harsh chemical or temperature environments.
Silicon windows give a transmission range of 1.2 ìm to 11 ìm, making it ideal for infrared applications, particularly at 3-5 ìm. Knight Optical’s Silicon windows are used in infrared imaging devices, particularly in passive systems such as thermography and other non-illuminated IR imaging at 3-5 ìm.
