Optical flats are optical-grade pieces of glass lapped and polished to be extremely flat on one or both sides, usually within a few millionths of an inch (about 25 nanometres).

Equipment
AR white float windows are cost effective, medium performance windows that are cut from relatively flat and parallel large, pre-coated sheets. Our stocks supply thicknesses from 2.0mm to 8.0mm and as no polishing is required they are extremely economical.
Optical flats are single precision flat surfaces. They are used as reference surfaces in interferometers and also as the substrates for laser mirrors. They are available in different materials offering different stability and surface quality.
