Optical Fiber Inspection Systems

An optical fiber (or fibre) is a glass or plastic fiber that carries light along its length. Fiber optics is the overlap of applied science and engineering concerned with the design and application of optical fibers. Optical fibers are widely used in fiber-optic communications, which permits transmission over longer distances and at higher bandwidths (data rates) than other forms of communications.

Equipment
The MPX Modal Explorer provides real-time measurement of Encircled Flux. Simply connect your source and patchcord to the MPX, and it will measure their Modal Launch Conditions in real-time.
The VFI is an interferometric inspection system specifically designed for checking the surface quality and flatness of your cleaved, polished or lensed fibers.
The "ModCon" Modal Controller is designed to ensure that whatever source you use to test the loss and bandwidth of your multimode optical fiber network, LED, Laser, OTDR or white light, you launch the same distribution of modes into the fiber. As a result you can eliminate the variations due to the widely different modal characteristics of the sources commonly used in fiber optic measurements and networks.
The 1500 Series Fibre Optic Power Meters and Light Sources are indispensable tools for fibre installation and maintenance. The Fibre Optic Power Meter measures optical power and, when paired with the LS-1500 Series Light Sources, it will perform automatic loss measurements with wavelength recognition for up to three laser wavelengths.
