Cree has announced the release of XLamp XB-D LED. A new Cree technology platform forms the basis for this first LED. The design of this XB-D LED is simple and eliminates the hurdle during its extensive implementation.
XLamp XB-D LED
This new LED provides double the lumens-per-dollar compared to other LEDs and is the smallest lighting-class footprint measuring 2.45 x 2.45 mm in the industry. The size of this XB-D LED is 48% smaller when compared to the XLamp XP package. These next generations of LED are suitable for lighting applications, which requires compact sources of light and high lumen density. The prices of LED lighting products may come down due to the idea used up in these new lighting-class LEDs. This is possible by utilizing up to three times less optics, three times less LEDs and small circuit boards than the design of the present boards.
According to Mike Watson, senior director of marketing for LED components of Cree, the company’s innovative lighting platform has described the pattern for price-performance again for the customers of the elements. Acceptance of LED in the market and its development in product benefits are considered to be significant, besides making the LEDs brighter.
The XB-D LED provides up to 136 lumens per watt and 139 lumens in cool white or up to 105 lumens per watt and 107 lumens in warm white both at 85°C and 350 mA.
New XB-D LEDs matches well with XP family secondary optics that can accelerate the process of optical design and save the cost directly for the current designs based on XP family.
