TFT-LCD manufacturer, Orbotech, has announced that the BOE (Beijing Oriental Electronics) Technology Group has purchased the AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems and the Array Tester worth about $50 million dollars.

The systems will be used in BOE’s new Gen-8 liquid crystal display panel TV fabrication plant in Beijing. Orbotech will deliver the systems towards 2010 end.
According to BOE, the company is dedicated to technology development and strives to increase manufacturing capacity to produce sophisticated LCD products for customers. The Orbotech systems will help the company to consolidate its position as a first-tier supplier in the future.
Display Asia Pacific’s President, Moshe Ashkenazi, stated that Orbotech is delighted that BOE has selected the Gen-8 AOI systems and the FPD Array Checker, proving Orbotech’s contributions in large-scale LCD panel production.
