New Laser Interferometer Launched by Palomar Technologies

Palomar Technologies has released a new interferometer, namely, the 2100C laser interferometer. The new calibration tool can be used to measure motion in micro inches. This enables the tool to be used in measurement of ultrasonic transducer excursion.

The third-generation laser calibration system inherits its name from its original counterpart, 2100.

The 2100C laser interferometer was initially planned for the calibration of wire bonding systems of the company. As the tool can be generally used in the measurement of quality calibration and precision, it was put into use in other applications in industries that needed a cost-effective alternative to the laser vibrometer, which is very expensive.

Wire bonding systems need calibration to compensate for the change in their Piezo drivers. During the calibration, activities such as changing of wire pools and switching out capillaries might call for a re-calibration of the wire bonder. The new laser interferometer offers efficient and simpler calibration for these wire bonders, which can experience inconsistencies in the process without calibration.

The 2100C Laser Interferometer can be configured for any frequency level. This facilitates the usage of the tool not only in Palomar wire bonders but also in other machines. The tool has the ability to deliver data through its USB connection. It utilizes a digital microcontroller. The CE- and UL-certified laser interferometer is compact in size and easily fits into a hard case similar to a briefcase along with the tripod.
