Study on Panoramic Camera Design

Panoramic, or 360 degree, images are quite exciting and show objects or landscapes from an unusual perspective. These images appear often in our everyday media, but they are also useful in industrial applications. For example, in an Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), panoramic images can be used to create three dimensional maps for car navigation or traffic control.

Panoramic Camera

Basler’s customization team based the panoramic camera design study on our existing camera concepts. Special fish eye lenses and complex three dimensional mathematical algorithms use the 2D images captured by the camera to create a 3D image in real time.

Of course, this study highlights the exceptional skills of the Basler development team in areas such as optics, mechanics, firmware, and mathematics.
