EWOFS'2010 Workshop on Optical Fibre Sensors to be Held in Portugal

Optical fibre sensors will represent the core of the EWOFS'2010 meeting, which will take place between 8 and 10 September 2010 in Porto (Portugal). Contributions are expected to cover new sensing principles, new transducers based on micro and nanotechnologies, new subsystems, signal processing and sensor multiplexing, as well as new applications and the exploitation of this sensing technology.

Papers should be submitted electronically through www.ewofs.org until March 31, 2010. In addition to the Workshop Proceedings, the authors are invited to submit an extended version of the accepted papers in a Special Issue of IEEE Sensors Journal.

Following the editions in Peebles (1998), Santander (2004) and Napoli (2007), INESC Porto will organise the fourth edition of the European Workshop on Optical Fibre Sensors, EWOFS'2010.

The main goal of EWOFS'2010 is to provide a forum for the assessment of the recent progresses in the optical fibre sensing field, as well as for the debate of future trends in the scientific, technological and entrepreneurship domains. The goal is to create a programme that will be attractive to both academics and professionals working in this area. The workshop programme will include invited and submitted oral contributions from experts, contributions from funding authorities, as well as evaluation/prospective assessment of the exploitation/commercialization of optic/fibre optic sensing technology and technical exhibition.

The workshop philosophy privileges the discussion and interaction between the attendees. Therefore, all contributed papers will be presented as posters and each poster session will be preceded by oral presentations which will deliver state-of-art views on the topics addressed in the session. After each poster session, the workshop attendees will be divided into groups that will analyze the contributions and present their comments in the subsequent discussion sessions, initiated by a panel that includes one member from each group.
