SCHOTT Partners with Skan to Launch RESISTAN Ceramic Materials in UK

"This decision by SCHOTT has been warmly received by everyone at SKAN" says Jeremy Drew - Sales Manager.

"It really underpins SKAN's ongoing commitment to providing the newest and best glass / ceramic materials available today, and further builds on the strong SKAN / SCHOTT partnership.

RESISTAN is a COMPLETELY NEW and exciting range of CERAMIC materials from SCHOTT. In fact RESISTAN is a comprehensive suite of 16 unique ceramic materials, each with their own key properties. For this very reason, SKAN has chosen to simplify the range on offer to the current TOP 3 RESISTAN variants that we believe will be of immediate interest to the UK market:

RESISTAN - 724-8 - With the look and finish of a PURE WHTE glazed PORCELAIN, but with far SUPERIOR physical and chemical properties, this fully dense non-porous ceramic is available from SKAN in processed flat form, 2mm thick up to 1500mm x 850mm!

RESISTAN - 701-8 - With it's distinctive GREY colour, one flat surface and the other nubbed, this high temperature ceramic transmits IR and blocks light in the visible region making it  ideal as a "hot light source" for night vision systems. This grade is available from SKAN in processed flat form, 4mm thick up to 1200mm x 550mm and 6mm thick up to 1000mm x 750mm!

RESISTAN - 712-3 - With it's dark BROWN colour and polished surfaces, this body-tinted transparent ceramic excels in high temperature applications up to 750 degC continuous, and is available from SKAN in processed flat form, 3mm thick up to 1000mm x 750mm!

The range will I'm sure expand to encompass the full suite of RESISTAN products as time goes on however as a start point...

It's a really exciting time for SKAN" Jeremy explains "as RESISTAN has proven to be a hugely successful NEW MATERIAL for SCHOTT over the last 12 months in the USA. We hope that by our local unrivalled UK applications engineering experience, SKAN too can match the double digit growth seen within this rapidly developing new market!"
