Ultra-Compact Pulsed 1064 nm Laser for Hand-Held LIBS

Cobolt AB, Swedish manufacturer of high performance DPSS lasers, is proud to introduce the Cobolt Tor™ XS, a high performance Q-switched laser at 1064nm. The Cobolt Tor™ XS is designed for OEM integration into hand-held or portable instruments targeting LIBS applications.

Operating at 1064 nm and using the same sophisticated laser cavity design as its big brother, Cobolt Tor™, it provides a unique combination for its size of high pulse repetition rates (>1 kHz), high average power (up to 50 mW), short pulse lengths (<3 ns) and exceptional pulse-to-pulse stability. In addition, the emission is generated in a TEM00 beam and can be externally triggered from single pulse up to 1 kHz. The compact footprint measures only 50 x 29 x 21.4 mm and weighs <100 g.

The lasers are manufactured using Cobolt’s proprietary HTCureTM Technology in a compact and hermetically sealed package, which provides a very high level of immunity to varying environmental conditions and exceptional reliability. Lasers built using the HTCureTM Technology have shown to withstand multiple 60G mechanical shocks in operation without any sign of degraded performance. They can be exposed to extreme temperatures (>100°C), and are insensitive to pressure and humidity.

Cobolt supplies high performance CW and Q-switched lasers, for stand-alone use or OEM integration in equipment for fluorescence analysis, Raman spectroscopy, interferometric metrology, micromachining and environmental monitoring. The Cobolt lasers are based on tailored nonlinear optical crystals for efficient frequency conversion and are manufactured in a compact and robust hermetically sealed package using proprietary HTCureTM Technology, which provides outstandingly high tolerance to demanding environmental conditions and ensured lifetime. Cobolt is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
