Bay Area Foot + Laser Podiatry Group Successfully Completes 5,000th Cosmetic Laser Procedure

The Bay Area Foot & Laser Podiatry Group performed its 5,000th laser procedure, it was announced today by its founder, Dr. Mark Wolpa, making him the leading provider in the United States for this treatment.

In private practice in the Bay Area since 1977, Dr. Wolpa has five offices located in Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Marin, Pleasanton and Santa Rosa, CA. Dr. Wolpa was one of the first doctors in the U.S. to use the PinPointe FootLaser for the treatment of toenail fungus. Toenail fungus is an embarrassing condition that affects an estimated 30 million Americans. Dr. Wolpa and his staff have performed more than 5,000 successful treatments to treat the disease since February 2009, making it the single most requested and popular procedure among new and existing patients in his practice.

It is estimated that half of all Americans over 40 suffer from toenail fungus. Despite this statistic, there has never been a good treatment option prior to the release of The PinPointe FootLaser.

"Topical treatments don't work and oral antifungal medication must be taken for three months or more and carry a risk of side effects," Dr. Wolpa says. "The laser beam quickly, safely and effectively penetrates the nail bed and kills the fungus instantly."

The PinPointe FootLaser procedure takes about 30 minutes and produces a new, healthy nail. Dr. Wolpa adds, "Laser treatment of toenail fungus is the most effective treatment I have seen in my 34 years of practice."
