Finisar to Showcase New Optical Processors and 100GE CFP2 Module at ECOC 2012

At the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC), 2012, Finisar plans to demonstrate its 100GE CFP2 module, WaveShaper 4000S Fourier Processor and WaveShaper 2000S Polarization Processor.

In addition to these products, Finisar will also display some of its passive devices, amplifiers, advanced components, ROADM linecards, WSS ROADMs, transponders and transceivers.

Finisar’s 10km 100GE CFP2 module is a hot-pluggable and high-density optical transceiver designed for OTU4 and 100GBASE-LR4 applications. This 100GE CFP2 module has a low power dissipation, which makes it useful for line cards with a high port-count. This CFP2 module is based on CFP2 MSA form factor, and has a smaller size in comparison to the previous version of the CFP.

Finisar will be displaying its products in booth # 500 at the ECOC to be held in Amsterdam from 17 September to 19 September, 2012. The company’s WaveShaper 4000S Multiport Optical Processor has an additional Fourier Processing capability which enables an optical channel to be split into multiple outputs that can be processed independent of each other. The WaveShaper software can be programmed and re-programmed to create the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) demodulators with multiple channels and reduced development times.

Finisar’s WaveShaper 2000S Polarization Processor controls the phase and signal amplitude in order to emulate Differential Group Delay (DGD) and Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) that vary spectrally. The spectral resolution of the WaveShaper 2000S is high, which enables the emulation of Polarization Dependent Frequency Shift (PDFS) to be regulated in cases of narrow-band filtering components.

Finisar Australia’s Director of New Business Ventures, Dr. Simon Poole, said that WaveShaper 4000S Fourier Processor and WaveShaper 2000S have been introduced to develop polarization-multiplexed, phase-modulated and coherent components and systems. He also said that these additions will extend the phase control and spectral shaping of the WaveShaper in advanced communication systems.
