ThermoGenesis Signs Deal with Concessus for Distributing AXP and Bioarchive Systems

ThermoGenesis has signed a four-year deal with Concessus for distributing BioArchive and AXP AutoXpress (AXP) Systems in a select number of West-European countries.

The countries include Liechtenstein, Nordic countries, Benelux, Switzerland, Spain and France. The BioArchive System is a robotic device which deals with storage, retrieval and cryopreservation of cord blood and stem cell samples. The AXP AutoXpress System is a set of automated devices for harvesting stem cells and cord blood cells in a closed system.

ThermoGenesis’ Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Plavan, said that this deal reflected the company’s growth in the international scene of cord blood market, with the additional approvals granted by China and Thailand for the BioArchive and AXP products, respectively. He also expressed his pleasure in the expansion of the company’s association with Concessus which is well-known for the distribution of healthcare products in Western Europe.

Concessus, which deals with diagnostic laboratory equipment in the field of healthcare, is based in Lisbon. Prior to this deal with ThermoGenesis, Concessus was already distributing BioArchive System since the year 2010. Chief Executive Officer of Concessus, João Araújo, said that the distribution of AXP System in addition to the BioArchive System will act as an advantage in the competitive market of cord blood products in the regions of Western Europe. He also felt proud in citing that in Western Europe, Concessus was the sole company dealing with completely automated cell storage and cell processing services and products.

Hal Baker, who is the Head of Commercial Operations in ThermoGenesis, said that this deal involves a customer-centric approach for marketing both the cord blood products through the same partner company. He felt that this was a significant development towards the company’s expansion in the cord blood market.
