NeoPhotonics, Inphi to Develop Advanced Optical Modules for 100G Systems

Inphi Corporation is renowned for supplying high-speed analog semiconductor solutions that benefit the markets of computing and communications.

It recently declared that it has entered into partnership with NeoPhotonics to allow the deployments of next-generation 100G optical solutions, and expedite its operation, thereby benefiting cloud computing, 100G transport applications, and high density data centers.

Inphi’s line of products such as 100GbE iPHY and 100G TIA solutions encompass transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), PHY and Clock Data Recovery (CDR) chipsets that are available for NeoPhotonics to incorporate in its 100G optical product upgrades. NeoPhotonics demonstrates lower power consumption and higher performance, facilitated by Inphi’s specifically-designed mixed signal semiconductor devices. This will allow the development of next generation optical modules and subsystems that improve client-side applications, thereby promoting high-speed transports.

Recently, Inphi publicized the availability of its distinguished low power CMOS PHY and CDR solutions for 100GbE. In addition, it also introduced its renowned high-performance 100GbE TIA. Its patented iPHY architecture is of much significance. Conservation of power, around three times less than conventional solutions, has been facilitated with Inphi's CMOS PHYs and CDRs. It also has reduced area footprint and serves to be a versatile solution, with increased performance and efficiency.

The 100GbE links, with its economic value and energy-efficiency, will serve as ideal tools for the service provider networks and data centers that demand increased bandwidth. In response to the demand, NeoPhotonics PIC-based modules and sub-systems and Inphi's iPHY CMOS PHY solutions have been designed to develop 100GbE networks with low carbon footprint.
