JK Lasers Rolls Out Mode Converter Fiber Coupler for Thin Foil Welding Applications

Manufacturer of industrial laser solutions, JK Lasers has rolled out a new mode converter fiber coupler (MCFC) that offers versatility to JK fiber laser users.

The MCFC obtains a Gaussian profile fiber input from any one of the fiber lasers and integrates it within a JK Luminator fiber. This facilitates in utilizing the entire range of JK fiber lasers with JK Luminator devices.

Fiber Coupler

The JK Luminator fiber’s output has a flat-top beam profile with a beam diameter ranging from 150 to 600 µm. Focused spot sizes ranging from 60 to 1500 µm can be chosen by using the right JK Luminator process devices. The MCFC offers real processing benefits to welding applications where the small spot size and profile of the Gaussian beam are not optimal. It is ideal for applications such as thin foil welding or butt welding parts.

JK Lasers incorporate a detachable output fiber with a plug-in pre-aligned technology that enables the MCFC to provide enhanced versatility for the laser solution.
