DSM Desotech announced that Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Company (YOFC), an optical fiber manufacturer in China, will use the DeSolite Supercoatings technology to develop the EasyBand product series.
DSM Desotech had launched the DeSolite Supercoatings technology in 2008. DSM and YOFC, in May 2009, announced an agreement for utilizing the DeSolite Supercoatings technology in the fiber manufactured by YOFC. After signing the agreement, both companies have been working together to offer a fiber-optic product with an enhanced reliability and lifetime for the Chinese market.
DSM developed a DeSolite Supercoatings system based on the fabrication and design process of YOFC optical fiber. The system displays better dynamic fatigue performance that is linked directly to expanding the fiber lifetime.
Extending the fiber lifetime is important for all fiber environments. It is also important for applications involving more stress on the fiber. The DeSolite Supercoatings technology delivers a substantial technological improvement in microbend sensitivity, which reduces the signal loss of a fiber over distance and time, for long wavelengths.
The Strategy & Marketing Manager of YOFC, Han Qingrpong stated that the company’s EasyBand fiber, shielded with the DeSolite Supercoatings technology, offers a reliable solution for metro and long haul fibers. This system helps the company to provide high performing fiber with reliable properties.
