AFL to Acquire Verrillon for Fiber-Optic Product Portfolio Enhancement

Provider of fiber-optic products, AFL will acquire the specialty optical fiber manufacturer Verrillon, to improve its portfolio of optical fiber products.

AFL will add specialty fiber-optic products to its portfolio, and strengthen its position in the fiber-optic market. The acquisition will also provide AFL with access to the sensing, industrial and other specialty fiber markets. AFL produces optical fiber cables and components in Germany, the UK, and South Carolina.

Verrillon, a supplier of fiber-optic products for avionics, and oil and gas markets, designs specialized fibers including rare-earth doped, polarization-maintaining, high-temperature, and hermetic fibers, for adverse environments. Verrillon, after the acquisition, will continue to operate the existing plant in Massachusetts.

AFL’s VP, Kurt Dallas stated that the company was overwhelmed by the market traction and product set of Verrillon. He added that the integration of Verrillon with AFL offers numerous growth opportunities world-wide. Verrillon’s President, Dr. Abdel Soufiane commented that the integration of the two companies would allow them to fully utilize the increasing market, and to reinforce the dedication towards the customers and the industry.
