New Disposable Endoscopic Trocar from Patton Surgical

Medical device manufacturer, Patton Surgical Corporation, has launched a new, advanced laparoscopic access instrument called the Robotic 8.5 mm Endoscope PassPort. The instrument is the first disposable endoscope trocar that can be utilized with Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci surgical systems, including the latest da Vinci Si 8.5 mm 3D Endoscope.

Intuitive Surgical has certified the 8.5 mm Endoscope PassPort to be used in da Vinci robotic-assisted gynecological surgeries such as tubal ligations, myomectomies, sacralcolpopexies and hysterectomies. The company has also validated Patton’s 12x100 mm PassPort instrument to be used with the da Vinci surgical systems.

The Endoscope PassPort assists surgeons by providing a port, which adapts safely to the camera mount. The instrument features a cannula that is equipped with remote center bands to ensure accurate port placement. The Endoscope PassPort also features a cannula head to increase the range of motion.

The robotic camera port in the Endoscope PassPort is integrated with a number of features such as a seal design and a protective SmartTip to minimize complications during pre- and post- operative procedures.

Patton Surgical’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Michael Patton, stated that the company’s advanced robotic cannulas and PassPort trocars enable surgeons to devote their complete attention on the surgeries.
