Compact Drives for Piezoelectric Micropumps by PI

This video shows the operating principle of compact drives offered by Physik Instrumente (PI) for piezoelectric micropumps. Micro-diaphragm pumps need compact drives, which can offer a continuous flow and variable flow rates. The small volumes for each pumping cycle require high cycle rates of up to several 10 kHz to attain high flow rates.

Disk-shaped piezo actuators can be mounted directly on the diaphragm to deflect it. Larger forces or ranges can be realized if a piston or a diaphragm is directly combined with a piezoelectric actuator.
