BTI Systems, a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high bandwidth, multi-protocol services, today announced that Clarks Telecommunications Company (Clarks), based in Nebraska, has deployed a BTI 7000 Series solution to support Fiber to the Home (FTTH) triple play network backhaul.

Clarks, an Independent Operating Company (IOC), offers local telephone, wired and wireless broadband internet access, digital cable and long distance phone services to Clarks, Ulysses, and Weston, Nebraska.

The BTI Systems’ 7000 evolves Clarks’ SONET-based OC-48 network and provides 10G Ethernet-based service delivery, network convergence, DWDM multiplexing, and reach extension all in one platform. The BTI 7000 Series, with technical acceptance from the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), also offers Clarks the ability to leverage fully integrated Layer 2 Carrier Ethernet switching and aggregation from the same platform in the future.

A key selection criteria for Clarks was simple and intuitive network and service provisioning. The BTI proNX™ Management Suite offers a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and auto provisioning intelligence that assists in the rapid commissioning of services across the network as demand for NNTC’s comprehensive service offer grows.

“BTI’s solutions allow Clarks to scale capacity using either SONET or Ethernet on a converged WDM infrastructure that’s extremely intuitive to deploy and provision” said Terry Eriksen, Assistant General Manager, Clarks Telecommunications Company. “We’ve also appreciated the responsiveness and support of the BTI team as we deploy this new technology in our network that will ready Clarks to grow with the demands of our subscribers.”

“Independent Operating Companies like Clarks are transitioning their networks to address new bandwidth requirements and enhanced service offerings” said Pete Dale, VP Sales Americas, BTI Systems. “BTI Systems provides an optimum foundation for broadband service delivery networks, combining Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and Carrier Ethernet, that simplify the transition from SONET to next-generation packet optical networking.”
