SA Photonics Introduces Millimeter Wave Measurement and Calibration System

The Millimeter Wave Measurement System (MWMS) is a millimeter wave measurement and calibration system designed by SA Photonics for high power sources.

The MWMS measures waves of high power densities in frequencies from 40 to 110 GHz at ± 0.5dB accuracy.

The MWMS records direct wave emissions from the source. This approach gives operators relevant data about frequency and power. The MWMS can be utilized with active denial systems with up to 95 GHz.

The advanced millimeter wave measurement and calibration system is connected by 5 km of fiber optic cable and comes with a processing unit. It consists of a photonic probe that sends millimeter wave measurements to a remote unit for characterization purposes. The system was effectively tested at Brooks City-Base in San Antonio, Texas. With a capacity to withstand high millimeter wave power levels, the probe with a 1 cm2 metallic aperture has minimal effect on field measurements.
