Hybrid Photodiodes by PHOTONIS - As Used in CERN LHC

PHOTONIS’ Hybrid Photo Diode, designed in collaboration with CERN, has been set up in the Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) project in order to speed up particle detection. An optional fiber-optic entry window allows the HPD to handle signals from stimulating fibers without losing a signal as a result of the coupling in the connection. At the time of order, customers can specify pixel size, pixel configuration and active window size.

  • Obtains focus by proximity or electrostatically
  • Exceptional single photon detection ability with exceedingly good linearity as well as fast timing

  • Available in Multi-MCP Image Intensifier forms as a Hybrid Photo Diodes, or having a saturated Pulse Height Distribution
  • Includes fiber-optic entry window as an option
