TheiaVu systems produce essential measurement results on final products or at different phases during production for both quality and process control when used in the lab or on-line.

How It Works

Compact Machine Vision for Quality Control

TheiaVu vision inspection devices observe and assess objects as they travel along a built-in conveyor belt using a combination of high-speed cameras, a laser, and image software.

Any object’s size, shape, color or composite measurement can be determined using our proprietary measura® software package and measuring algorithms, and this data can be converted into standard units for measuring and controlling quality. The data for each object is retained for future tracking and analysis, and the results are illustrated in real-time.

To Inspect a Product:

  1. Switch on the system
  2. Choose the preferred measurement profile using a built-in operator interface
  3. Keep the object on the moving conveyor belt
  4. Immediately view the results on-screen

Users can keep feeding the same product onto the belt without having to recalibrate the device, and all information will be stored. Manual note-taking and spreadsheets are unnecessary.

The measura® Toolbox module (included) makes it simple to change or build product profiles. Users just need to enter the requirements and save. The modifications will be implemented the next time users load the profile.

Bread Crumb (Porosity) Analysis

TheiaVu systems can provide an extra level of analysis detail called crumb analysis. Crumb analysis shows pore size and distribution, as well as texture expectations (airy, dense). This information is critical for QA and R&D teams doing in-depth analyses of baked goods and testing or confirming recipes, as well as QA teams collecting precise, reproducible information for process control.

The TV-250HR has a crumb analysis feature. For the finest image quality, it uses a high-resolution camera and customized illumination. The number of pores, pore area, largest pore area, largest pore diameter, and average pore diameter is all evaluated. Pores can also be categorized into three groups based on their size, each having an identical set of criteria.

Lighting

For reliable color measurement, all TheiaVu versions use an efficient white LED. Crumb analysis applications require extra lighting.

Camera Options

The TheiaVu™ series has an extensive selection of camera options for diverse applications:

  • 2D full-color camera with resolutions of approx. 0.2 mm/pix (resolution differs by conveyor width)
  • 3D monochromatic profile camera (works with a laser source for 3D profile)
  • 2D high-resolution color camera for crumb structure examination and other applications

Other Components

  • Incorporated and modifiable system touchscreen permits for easy operator interaction
  • Plugs directly into any standard electrical outlet (120/220VAC)
  • Stainless steel conveyor safeguards quick sampling and little maintenance
  • Accessible USB and network connectors allow for easy linking of peripheral devices

Using vision technology, products are meaningfully characterized, including complex details that tend to be time-consuming and difficult with traditional manual methods. The standard measurements library now contains over 100 basic and advanced algorithms, with more on the way.
