LLM - LED Light Manager

The LLM from Smart Vision Lights can drive several lights of nearly any type or up to four individual channels or zones within a built-in photometric or multispectral ring light solution. Each program can hold up to six sequences with up to four lights fixed to nonstop on, off, any intensity level in between, and even OverDrive™ strobe mode.

To program the four zones of a single LED illumination system such as four separate LED light sources or ring light, users just have to link the LLM to a computer via Ethernet cable and use the browser-based interface to set the light via a series of drop-down menus. The intuitive user interface enables technicians of any level to fix image sequences and program intensities for each light.

The LLM system and light kit bundles primarily will target 3D photometric stereo and 2D multi-light applications. When used along with specialized photometric stereo software from Matrox Imaging, TeleDyne DALSA, Cognex, SICK, or MVTec, the lighting system can address formerly intractable tasks, such as locating a flaw in the surface of a part. By taking consecutive images of a stationary object as it is illuminated by a series of lights, photometric image processing software can establish the 3D surface orientation of every pixel spanning the object’s surface. The same method can produce 2D images of several regions of interest using individual lights and/or cameras.

The LLM is also suitable for multispectral imaging solutions where the LED wavelengths — and not wide-spectrum white lights with optical filters in front of the sensor — are the spectral band selection mechanisms. Using the color of illuminating light as the spectral band selection mechanism can significantly decrease the cost of multispectral imaging solutions, while expanding budgets for imaging applications.
