SpineTech Neck and Back Specialists recently added High Powered Laser Therapy, Class IV to its array of services. In accordance with the clinic's high standards, it has chosen LiteCure lasers in order to treat its patients with state of the art equipment.
Laser therapy, which is also referred to as photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive treatment that uses laser energy to create a photochemical reaction at the cellular level in damaged tissue. It has been approved by the FDA to treat a significant number of acute and chronic injuries and conditions, as well as reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
During a High Powered Laser Therapy treatment, which typically lasts between five and 10 minutes, a therapist moves the laser wand directly across patient's skin at the affected area. Both therapist and patient need to wear protective eyeglasses. The laser's infrared light stimulates metabolic activity within the cells, which in turn increases cellular function and sparks a chain of beneficial effects. Litecure's patented Laser-Massage Ball allows the therapist massage the tissue in order to let the laser penetrate deeper into the treatment area.
The frequency and duration of treatment depends on the individual case, with acute and severe conditions initially often requiring multiple treatments per week and tapering to one per week or 10 days as the condition improves. The speed at which results can be noticed will also differ; however, in some instances, patients may notice improvement as soon as after the first treatment.
