Optoscribe Launches Revolutionary Fiber Coupling Solution

Scottish based company Optoscribe is pleased announce the launch of its new FCX Fibre Coupled InterconneX product.

The FCX is a unique glass interface designed for simple coupling to arrays of emitter or receivers including VCSELs, PDs and PICs.

The FCX revolutionises the footprint and form factor of assemblies, whilst supporting high data rates across datacoms and telecoms.  This is ideal for applications where space is at a premium and high bandwidth connectivity is essential.

Easy to integrate into system-in-a-package (SIP) solutions, the FCX can be mounted on PCBs for optical boards or directly bonded as part of hybrid assemblies. The reduced package size simplifies fiber interconnection and liberates design constraints associated with optical I/O.

FCX is compatible with a wide variety of standard fiber architectures including SMF and MMF, and also supports advanced space division multiplexed transmission using Multicore Fiber (MCF) or Few Mode Fiber (FMF).

The FCX joins Optoscribe’s 3D Optofan and 3D MMux Photonic Lantern range of waveguide solutions.

About Optoscribe

Optoscribe was founded in 2010 and has become a recognised supplier of trusted, high performance 3D waveguide based solutions.

The hurdles often associated with the adoption of new technology are overcome by using our unique waveguide technology. We provide innovative products that are set to revolutionise the optical telecommunications network and help shape the future.

Impossible to produce using conventional planar technologies, our new range of the products open up new possibilities and integration scenarios.

Our products combine multiple components into a single platform to enable high throughput, low insertion loss and a broad flat spectral response over telecoms bands.

Using proven and tested manufacturing process, Optoscribe can simply scale to volume where required. This is achieved through a highly automated manufacturing process, streamlining the transition from prototype to high volume with ease.

Our products are assembled and tested in a conventional way to ensure they interface with existing single-mode fibre (SMF) and multi-mode fibre (MMF), as well as multi-core fibre (MCF) and few-mode fibre (FMF) technologies to enable applications such as simple optical spatial division multiplexing (SDM).

Optoscribe is located in Livingston, between the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
