Leica and Molecular Devices Launch Multi-Dimensional Live Cell Imaging Package

Leica Microsystems and Molecular Devices have launched the next generation of Leica MM AF imaging systems, a product line that combines Leica Microsystems’ leading microscopy technology and Molecular Devices’ latest MetaMorph® NX Software.

The new Leica MM AF imaging systems

Analyzing large amounts of data
The new Leica MM AF NX imaging system presents an entirely redesigned workflow-oriented interface to simplify even the most complex imaging tasks. With one-click access to features, integrated hardware setup, and synchronized, unobstructed views of data, the new software modernizes the imaging process. With the Dataset View, users can display and analyze large amounts of data without sacrificing clarity. All displayed images can be zoomed, paned, scaled to any bit depth. Colors can be assigned to channels for further investigation of even the most subtle object in an image.

Versatile tool for fast image processing
A single mouse click instantly exports images to Microsoft PowerPoint for compelling presentations or for preparing publications. The new tab-based “ribbon” interface provides convenient access to features, whilst users can create their own shortcuts to commonly used options. Each acquisition mode presents just the options that are relevant to that mode and guides users quickly through configuration. Sophisticated measurements no longer require journals or macros. The user can easily and immediately measure across some or all image planes by specifying the measurement settings directly on the ribbon. The Leica MM AF NX automatically saves acquired images as well as measurement results, which can be accessed, reconfigured, and filtered at any time.

“The new Leica MM AF NX extends our offering of user-friendly and workflow-oriented imaging platforms like the Leica LAS AF software for sophisticated fluorescence applications,” states Sebastian Tille of Leica Microsystems' Life Science Division. “This evidences the fruitful collaboration between Molecular Devices and Leica Microsystems, in which the strengths of both companies complement one another”.
