Optical Surfaces to Develop Optical Modules for ZephIR 300 Wind Lidar

Provider of optical components, Optical Surfaces announced that it has obtained a substantial order to develop optical modules for Natural Power’s ZephIR 300 wind lidar.

A spokesperson of Optical Surfaces stated that the company’s optical modules use an aspheric doublet with a focal length of 200 mm to attain enhanced performance with reduced components.

ZephIR’s ability to generate variable focus at various heights is attained by utilizing a point source that originates from a single mode fiber. The aspheric lenses present in the optical module feature a V-coat that optimizes the performance at 1.5 microns and enables the surface of the lens to be cleaned.

The ZephIR 300 wind lidar offers comprehensive wind resource measurement such as turbulence, wind direction, vertical and horizontal wind speed at a maximum speed of 200 m without requiring a mast. ZephIR’s ease of deployment and portability enables high density data collection with 50 measurements per second both vertically and horizontally over the measurement place.
