Momentive Performance Materials exhibited its portfolio of advanced silicone elastomer materials and hardcoat solutions at Chinaplas 2010, April 19-22 in Shanghai.
Momentive solutions on display included the new Silplus elastomer series, the StatSil platform of antimicrobial products, the high transparent LSR7000 family of platinum-catalyzed liquid silicone rubbers, and thermal and UV curable weatherable hardcoat products.
Momentive’s versatile Silplus elastomer line, offered in a range of hardness, consists of three platforms, each developed to meet the specialized needs of different potential applications:
- Silplus MP multi-purpose silicone elastomers can help provide customers with the flexibility to more easily compound or blend elastomers to achieve desired properties, and may be considered for use in a wide variety of applications and processing equipment.
- Silplus EX silicone elastomers can help provide enhanced green strength and excellent extrusion performance, and may be considered for applications such as hose, tubing, and profiles.
- Silplus HS silicone elastomers, developed for higher performance applications, can help provide higher strength and enhanced mechanical properties.
The StatSil platform of antimicrobial HCR and LSR products is a family of addition curable, high consistency rubber (HCR) and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) products that can be considered for use in a number of healthcare applications for built-in protection from microbial growth in or on the human body.
Momentive’s platinum-catalyzed LSR7000 series was originally introduced for potential use in specialty electronics applications, including light guides or optical lenses. Its high optical transparency and excellent physical stability make it also an excellent material to consider for consumer, automotive and healthcare applications, such as diving masks, sensor systems, endoscopic devices, catheters, and respiratory components.

Momentive has a long history of developing hardcoat solutions for polymeric materials, enabling their continuous use in exterior applications such as automotive and architecture. Momentive’s hardcoats can help provide superior abrasion resistance, long-term UV protection, and excellent chemical and solvent resistance. The portfolio includes a range of thermal and UV cured products for a multitude of potential application needs.
