The coupling of laser ablation and the ULTIMA 2 ICP from HORIBA Jobin Yvon provides a convenient alternative to chemical decomposition, especially with refractory samples.

It can be use for all types of geological, glass and related materials, vitrified samples for nuclear application and for metallurgical products. Using this technique a minimum sample preparation is required and contamination is lowered.
