ADTRAN Introduces New Series of Micro Optical Network Terminals for FTTH Installations

ADTRAN®, Inc., a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today unveiled the latest component of its market leading Gigabit broadband portfolio, designed to accelerate service provider adoption of Gigabit Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH).

ADTRAN is making it easier for service providers to drive down costs of FTTH installations with a new series of micro Optical Network Terminals (µONTs) that eliminates truck rolls, simplifies installations and eases upgrades while improving end user satisfaction. The new solutions are the latest example of how ADTRAN is addressing the challenges service providers face as they look to embrace next-generation broadband with Gigabit services.

A new era of broadband is forcing service providers worldwide to make decade-long network decisions without clear visibility into the future requirements of their customers, making network flexibility paramount. ADTRAN delivers a Gigabit services architecture that offers service providers of all types – including utilities, municipalities and cable MSOs – unprecedented flexibility, scalability and performance as they look to migrate from FTTN or DOCSIS or deploy greenfield FTTH infrastructures. ADTRAN is helping service providers address four critical issues that will allow them to successfully deliver scalable, symmetric Gigabit services:

“Sycamore Telephone was looking to expand FTTH service into a larger community adjacent to our existing service area, effectively increasing the addressable market by 5X. We have a long working history with ADTRAN and we knew that the Total Access 5004 in the Crossover Enclosure would be the right solution for this deployment,” said Rick Ekleberry, broadband operations manager at Sycamore Telephone. “We have seen first-hand the benefits our FTTH service has brought to the community and know it is a critical requirement for the economic development of the area. ADTRAN is enabling us to future-proof our network investment as we look to scale our services now and into the future.”

“The long term demand for broadband is infinite with consumers wanting instant access anywhere, on any service and any device. This era of next-generation broadband is requiring service providers to effectively evolve, change and grow at a pace faster than ever before,” said Robert Conger, director, global carrier strategy and solutions, ADTRAN’s Carrier Networks Division. “In a time where service providers are making decisions without a roadmap of what their future service requirements will be, ADTRAN offers our customers unmatched flexibility and scalability so they can accelerate Gigabit service delivery and achieve their deployment goals.”
