OWIS® new production hall
The family-owned company founded in 1980, develops, manufactures and markets with about 50 employees state-of-the-art precision components "Made in Germany".
The customers, mostly from science, research and industry, use OWIS® beam handling and positioning systems in areas where high precision is required for example in laser technology – in the μ and nano range. Thanks to the targeted company policy, an increase in sales was recorded in the past few years. In addition, OWIS® products steadily conquer new areas of applications and markets. On long term, with the given production capacity it would have been impossible to cover the demand at the requested delivery times.
“The construction of the new hall is our response to the continuously increasing order situation in recent years. Thanks to the new state-of-the-art production facilities and an optimized manufacturing process the production capacity doubled almost. We can continue to expand with a maximum economic production, especially from an environmental point of view." stated Dirk Schuhen, Managing Director of the OWIS GmbH.
The 390 square meter hall, which is in operation since February 2014, opens up completely new possibilities to the company. “For us as a family-run company, modern workplaces and spacious premises for the benefit of the employees were important criteria in the planning process.” states Dirk Schuhen. In addition, the expanded fully automated production process resulted in optimized workflows and thereby in reduced production times. The core is the new advanced 12-axis turn-mill centre. Completed is the innovative equipment by the new Paternoster system for material storage.
With the company expansion the OWIS GmbH sends out clear signs for a strong location in Staufen and "Made in Germany". With the innovative capacity and decades of experience of the employees, the company assures its position as a technology leader for the future.
