IDS Imaging Introduce New UI-3580CP-C Industrial Cameras

IDS Imaging Development Systems, a global leader in medical vision and machine vision technology, has positioned itself for leadership in the USB 3.0 category with the introduction of its UI-3580CP-C industrial cameras offering the new Aptina 5 Megapixel CMOS sensor.

The color imager offers a resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels at 15 fps. The new sensor has a highly reduced image noise and hence offers an increased image quality. For applications that don't require color images, the UI-3480CP-M offers the same detail and frame rate in a true monochrome sensor.

The cameras' USB 3.0 interface delivers a significant advantage compared to common interfaces: A tenfold increased data rate up to 400 MByte/ s compared to USB 2.0's 40 MByte /s or 100 Mbytes /s for GigE. High bandwidth makes multi-camera systems or data intensive applications easily realized with either camera. Plus, because USB 3.0 is also downward compatible, the continued use of existing USB 2.0 systems is no issue. These features plus the extensive availability of the universal USB interface guarantees long-term investment security.

Digital I/Os include trigger, flash and pulse width modulation, while two GPIOs are optically isolated and connected via a Hirose connector.  Thanks to its compact, lightweight magnesium housing the camera is particularly well-suited for applications where space is at a premium.

To simplify deployment of the cameras, IDS offers a software package for Microsoft® Windows® and Linux that includes 32/64 bit drivers, demo programs, and source code in C + +, C # and VB.

ABOUT IDS

IDS is a leading manufacturer of digital industrial cameras and frame grabbers. The company was founded by two engineers in 1997. Their mission then and now is to develop, manufacture and distribute industrial grade imaging components with an excellent price/performance ratio and maximum ease of use. IDS is internationally represented by a subsidiary in the USA and through a network of distributors in almost all European and Asian countries. About half of IDS employees are engineers in hardware and software development as well as applications engineering. IDS customers include OEMs, system integrators and manufacturers in the industrial, security, scientific and medical industries. Over 250,000 IDS frame grabbers and 180,000 USB and GigE uEye cameras are in use worldwide today.
