US Seismic Systems Delivers Fiber-Optic Based Marine Seismic Array

US Seismic Systems (USSI) announced that it has constructed and delivered a fiber optic based, ultra high sensitivity seismic array for use in oceanic oil and gas exploration.

The purchaser of the array is an international service provider and the system would be employed in deep sea exploration of oil and gas for data collection and interpretation.

Jim Andersen, President of USSI, appreciated the holding company, Acorn Energy, for providing all the required tools to USSI that facilitated successful transition of the array system from research and development to order fulfillment. He also stated that the deployment of USSI technology is a value addition that is in line with oil and gas industry’s tendency to adopt to novel technology. The value of the contract is over $800K. The delivery marks the completion of the first cycle of operation commencing with testing and assessment and culminating in sale and order fulfillment. The company is working to implement the cycle for many other customers.

USSI caters to the defense and energy segments. The company designs and develops sensors that are fully fiber-optic based. The optical fiber and electronic sensors are deemed to surpass traditional legacy electronic sensors in terms of performance and cost. USSI is one of the four companies in which energy infrastructure solutions provider, Acorn Energy has controlling stake.
