Lumenera Release 5 Megapixel USB Scientific Camera

Lumenera Corporation, a leading manufacturer and developer of high performance digital cameras and custom imaging solutions for scientific, industrial and surveillance markets, announces the release of the INFINITY2-5 digital CCD USB 2.0 camera. The INFINITY2-5 is engineered for qualitative image archiving in life science, clinical and material science applications where higher resolution and excellent sensitivity are of the utmost importance.

The INFINITY2-5 was designed in response to the demand for a higher resolution CCD-based camera. This 5.0 megapixel camera employs the Sony Super HAD ICX655 high quality 2/3” sensor featuring 3.45 micron square pixels. An 8-bit output is available for capturing fast video of live events, or 14-bit for quantifying data. The high speed output combined with a high dynamic range has resulted in a versatile entry-level research camera. Additional product highlights include: superb color reproduction in clinical-stained samples for outstanding image quality; full color sub-windowing for rapid focus and scanning of samples; 8.5 fps at full 2448 x 2048 resolution (up to 23 fps at 640 x 480 with ROI); and a progressive scan global electronic shutter for producing smooth even previews with very quick response times.

“The INFINITY2-5 is aligned with Lumenera’s goal of being a premium supplier for the mid to high range microscopy market.” says Sylvain Dignard, Lumenera’s Director of International Business Development. “This five megapixel CCD meets an important demand for microscopy cameras to provide true color reproduction, low light sensitivity and higher resolutions.”

The INFINITY2-5 is now available in either color or monochrome, and includes both Lumenera’s INFINITY ANALYZE and CAPTURE software providing advanced image capture, measurement and processing abilities. Visit the Lumenera website at www.lumenera.com for more information.
