Ophir Photonics Launches Laser Absorbers for Short-Pulsed Lasers

Precision laser measurement specialist, Ophir Photonics Group has launched a new series of ultra-damage threshold power volume absorbers for lasers with pulses of less than 1 µs.

Ophir Photonics' Laser Absorbers for short-pulse lasers

The PF Sensors absorb the energy of a laser in the volume of the substance being utilized. The sensor utilizes a spray coating on the surface instead of the normal ceramic or glass substrate. The coating is more long-lasting, economical and can be coated in any size required. This layer form allows the PF Sensors to offer quicker reaction times and more power handling capacity than conventional solid form. The sensors can manage up to 20 times the power density of up to 3 KW/cm2 and the rate of reaction time is 1 s. The normal power density is 50 W/cm2.

The PF Absorber Sensors are available in four models, which include 50(150)A-PF-35, 15(50)A-PF-DIF-18, 50A-PF-DIF-18 and F100A-PF-DIF-18. The 50(150)A-PF-35 has a large 35 mm aperture and can be used for a power density of up to 50 W continuously and 150 W intermittently.

The 15(50)A-PF-DIF-18, the 50A-PF-DIF-18 and the F100A-PF-DIF-18 have a diffuser to improve the resistance against damage. The 15(50)A-PF-DIF-18 offers a continuous power density of 15 W and an intermittent power density of up to 50 W, while the 50A-PF-DIF-18 is for a continuous power density of 50 W. The F100A-PF-DIF-18 offers a continuous power density of 100 W.
