OSRAM Releases TOPLED LEDs for LCD Backlighting Applications

Lighting manufacturer, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has launched a new compact LED lighting for TV screens and monitors.

The TOPLED 5630 LED incorporates the TOPLED packaging technology to meet the requirements of LCD backlighting applications. The TOPLED design is suitable for high volume production.

The TOPLED 5630 is available in two versions, namely the multi-white and the ultra-white versions. The multi-white TOPLED covers the sRGB color space by up to 120%, and delivers an efficiency of 67 lm/W for an operating current of 120 mA, while the ultra-white TOPLED has 100% sRGB color space coverage and delivers 76 lm/W efficiency at 120 mA operating current.

Both LED models have dimensions of 5.6x3.0x0.9 mm and are flat-encapsulated without any built-in lens. The LEDs offer improved efficiency for injecting into light guides and facilitate TV and monitor makers to fulfill energy consumption norms of EuP Class A 2010/2012 and Energy Star 2010/2012.
