DiCon Fiberoptics Introduces New Optical Channel Monitor

DiCon Fiberoptics has launched a new Optical Channel Monitor (OCM) that is specifically designed for DWDM networks. The OCM, based on the company’s MEMS Tunable Filter, provides improved optical performance. It also features MEMS’ reliability and durability.

Optical Channel Monitor

DiCon’s OCM supports 88 channels with choices to cover 96 channels. It is ideal for both 100 and 50 GHz channel plans. The wavelength range of OCM can be customized and covers both L and C band applications and any mixture of 40 and 10 G bit optical channels. The OCM features a scanning speed of 250 ms and is voltage-controlled.

The OCM is an optical subsystem, which is capable of scanning DWDM networks and reports about the power of every channel in real time. Its feedback can be utilized to validate system functionality, recognize performance shift, and optimize power levels. The OCM provides the same stability, repeatability, and durability as the Variable Optical Attenuator, 1xN Fiber Optic Switch, and MEMS Tunable Filter.

The Director of Sales of DiCon Fiberoptics, Jarlath McElroy stated that the OCM has a footprint of 70 x 106 x 10.8 mm that allows customers to integrate a 1xN MEMS Fiber Optic Switch to provide the versatility of examining a maximum of 12 separate points.
