AFL Telecommunications and NextGenUs announced the Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network installation in Ashby de la Launde, Lincolnshire. This FTTH installation will provide the village residents access to high-speed 100 Mbps fibre-optic broadband connectivity for their houses.
Almost three businesses and 60 homes in the village have begun on-site digging for the fiber network connection. This fiber network project includes the participation of the community for the deployment of a privately funded fiber-optic network.
The combination of the ‘Big Society’ initiative of the government and the introduction of the backbone network-access will allow many local communities to enjoy the benefits of the new collaboration to make local networks that are protected by the CIC regulations. The costs for building the fiber network will be minimized, when the communities begin to actively work in the project. The fiber network project is expected to complete by September.
