IDS uEye Camera with Genika Trigger Software
About IDS Imaging Development Systems
Introduction
Airylab is a France-based start-up specializing in optical metrology and imaging applications. The company’s software line comprises Genika Trigger for on the fly frame analysis and Genika Astro for astronomical lucky imaging.
Genika Trigger is image acquisition software, which performs on-the-fly frame analysis to save only those frames that are interesting, thus enabling long duration runs, reducing the processing hassle, and sparing disk space. Frame selection filters are smart triggers capable of performing image characteristic analysis in real time, including movement detection, pixel map variation, and histogram.

Airylab also uses specific filters based on requirement, for instance, an astronomy photometry for detecting asteroid transits in front of stars. Genika Trigger’s own crash proof file format supports time stamping and frame geo-localization. The combination of a strict frame loss control and an extensive in/out trigger supports enables extensive synchronized multi-camera acquisition for purposes such as stereoscopic applications.
IDS uEye Camera with Genika Trigger Software
Airylab has decided to integrate uEye cameras from IDS Imaging Development Systems in Genika Trigger. Airylab’s decision was also influenced by IDS Imaging’s product line, which comprises unique camera models such as the 5240 that features a very sensitive E2V sensor.

The uEye SDK played a decisive role in the integration of the IDS camera into Genika Trigger. Airylab’s Frédéric Jabet informed that IDS SDK is extensive and the different camera models are impeccably supported. Moreover, the documentation is complete for both C++ and .Net environment. The company has plans to port IDS camera to Genika Astro, an astronomical application requiring high sensitivity hardware. The presence of the E2V sensor could be useful for those low light applications.
